Congressman Andy Biggs Sends Letter to Pres. Biden Demanding Answers on His Door-to-Door Vaccine Checks
July 9, 2021
Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, along with 31 of his colleagues, sent a letter to President Biden regarding his decision to implement door-to-door checks on the American people to coerce them into receiving the COVID-19 vaccine:
“Door-to-door vaccine checks on Americans are a blatant abuse of government authority and a pure power play by the Biden administration. The federal government has no right to track the private health information of Americans or to intimidate people into getting the vaccine. Instead of meddling in private medical decisions, the Biden administration should focus on addressing the border crisis, the rampant rise in inflation, and the crime wave that is plaguing American cities – all crises it created. The door-to-door spying on Americans is one more example of the burgeoning surveillance state by the national government.”

Dear President Biden:
Your administration’s decision to go door-to-door to coerce individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccine is deeply disturbing and violates the privacy of Americans. The private health information of millions of Americans should never be a matter of concern for the federal government. Americans must be free to make their own personal health choices.
On July 6, 2021, you delivered remarks from the White House and made the following statement: “Now we need to go to community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oftentimes, door to door – literally knocking on doors – to get help to the remaining people protected from the virus.”
That same day, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki delivered a similar message during the White House press briefing. She outlined five areas that your COVID-19 Response Team is prioritizing, with priority one being “community-by-community, door-to-door outreach to get remaining Americans vaccinated by ensuring they have the information they need on how both safe and accessible the vaccine is.”[2] She also discussed your administration’s decision to use “strike forces” to travel into local communities and apply pressure “to get 12-to-18 year-olds vaccinated.”
These statements provoke a serious concern that the federal government is in the process of identifying and tracking the private health information of millions of Americans. There is no scenario where the federal government should be actively entering communities and traveling door-to-door to pressure Americans to receive a vaccine. COVID-19 vaccine information is widely available throughout the country, and Americans have every ability to decide for themselves whether or not they should receive a vaccine.
To address these concerns, please provide us with answers to the following questions by July 23, 2021:
1) What is the constitutional and statutory authority your administration is claiming to conduct door-to-door vaccine checks and track private health information of Americans?
2) Has your administration developed a database to track which Americans have received a COVID-19 vaccine?
3) Has your administration developed a database to track which Americans have not received a COVID-19 vaccine?
4) Is your administration accessing databases maintained by states, local governments, or private companies to determine who received a COVID-19 vaccine?
5) Does the federal government maintain a database to track which Americans have received other vaccines?
6) How does your administration plan to identify the homes of Americans who have not been vaccinated?
We look forward to receiving answers to these questions.
Sincerely,
Andy Biggs
Member of Congress
